Hello and welcome to my e-Portfolio. I am currently a graduate student at St. John’s University pursuing a Master of Science in Library and Information Science (MSLIS) with an expected completion date of December 2018. In addition to my studies, I am a Graduate Assistant serving as a member of the St. John’s University Division of Library and Information Science (DLIS) Accreditation Steering Committee. As part of the committee, I assist faculty and staff with organizing and drafting the 2018 DLIS Self-Study in accordance with American Library Association accreditation standards.

Prior to pursuing a career in library and information science, I graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law and practiced commercial litigation at large and mid-sized law firms. In addition, I have an LL.M. from New York University School of Law with a focus on Trade Regulation (International Trade) and am fluent in Swedish.

As both a law student and practicing attorney, I found legal research to be the most challenging and enlivening aspect of the legal profession. I enjoyed framing a legal question or issue to research, devising a research plan, discovering and organizing relevant case law and accompanying resources, and distilling a large amount of information into a well-crafted and succinct legal argument.

My passion for discovering and organizing information led me to pursue a career change and enroll in the MSLIS program at St. John’s. While I am interested in law librarianship, I have also pursued additional areas of interest such as academic librarianship, archives, and public librarianship. In addition, as a father of three young children, I have enjoyed the opportunity to enroll in courses covering youth librarianship and am interested in professionally pursuing a career in that discipline.

Please feel free to review the artifacts in my e-Portfolio and leave any comments or questions. I hope you find the contents enlightening and informative.
